I’m quite opinionated to what I like and don’t like. I am into the subtle kits, factory lights, neat wheels that are in proportion to the rest of the car. Also love my performance mods. LET’s, XE’s TBd C16’s etc

It would seem now, that reading a lot of comments that people are now beginning to move away from the flipped out paint jobs, HUGE spoilers, Lexus lights, stupid front bumpers and are concentrating on making their cars look slick and to the point. Seen a lot of ‘put the originals back on’ or ‘fit smoked lights’ comments. Personally, I think this is good.

My favourite types of modded cars, tend to have subtle and neat touches. It’s the way the Nova boys went a few years ago. Gone...or going are the Kingdom rabbit hutches in favour of tidy originals with subtle mods and nice wheels.

Is that what a lot of you lot think? Or am I in my own little dream world?

People are just growing up and realising they look like a cunt in there maxed up motors

If you look at an early Max Power compare it to a recent edition you will start to cry at the shambles the modding world is!!

Modifying to the extremes reached its peak in 02 maybe 03.

To stand out from the rest nowdays you need lots of £££££ and to be honest the end result looks horrendous just so that you can say its "unique"

Indeed, Max Power (when launched) was good. Almost a bit like Car and Car conversions was. Now, it enforces the chavy type stereo typical car modder. ‘Faptastic Orimental bumpers?’ Yeeer roite!

90% of what's in there represents everything that is wrong with car modifying.

Indeed. People almost do things because they 'can'. Sod the consiquences. No, it doesn't look good, the returning argument is, 'yeah, but it looks different'. Errr, hello, so's glueing a giant 47" penis to the roof.

never liked kitted up cars anyway

allwasy wanted to build basically what J18 is now, sure it needs about another 8k spent on it to make it how i want it, but its not far off

could never see the point in sending you car into a bodyshop to have 3.7 tonnes of fibreglass put on it to be "diffrent"

Indeed Painz...yours has to be one of my fav C's at the moment!!!

Neil, that wasn't the point of the thread....was to see if my theory is right, not to stop people from doing what they want.

I dont think subtle is the right word.

Alot of people put irmsher airdams on etc, i dont consider them subtle. I think on the flipside its the "mental" over the top kits/hoop tastic tractor wheels etc have gone down in volume.

I like kitted cars when they are done properly, when everything is in proportion, sure i have 17" wheels, but they suit my car as i have a kit on it. When they look out of place on a std kitted gsi corsa.

I dont like the way its going now as its all boring. Like olly said 02/03 was the peak of moddingness. I love cars modded with factory parts from other models, i also like kittred ones so long as they arent ridiulas or dull. Its a mixture and a balance. I feel the balance has gone

Agree totally. My Astra is a mixture of loads of things.

Maybe I should have worded it slightly differently...there is a distinct difference between Irmscher and Kingdom developments stuff etc.
