Mines was an 18th birthday present.
Joff, if you say why not keep a standard number, why not keep your car standard and not modify it under the same method of thinking.

I modified the Corsa to make it faster because it was cheaper than buying a new, faster car.

But why would you want everyone to know it's your car - good or bad?
You could just have a sticker to say "this car belongs to corsa_boy69".

I've got Mav's old plate on my Vectra. If it ever gets taken off, it will be replaced by another personalised plate.

It adds value to the car, looks better, attracts attention and is easier to remember..

I wasnt saying that I want everyone to know its my car, I was just pointing out that by getting a personalised numberplate everyone knows its your car and that can be a good thing sometimes but also a bad thing. Pointless comment really
I got mine cos I just wanted one with my initials on and it looks classier IMO (Corsa isnt a classy car I know )

How does a private plate add ANY value to the car?
I'm really confused over the whole numberplate "thing". People get say a VW, then buy a number plate with "VW" on it.
It's not as if the VW looks so unreal that make of the car would be questioned, it's just the same as any other VW.

Attracts attention... drive naked.

Easier to remember - mine's only 7 characters and came with the car. Not difficult.

You're a good example why private plates are a bad thing.

It's not as if the VW looks so unreal that make of the car would be questioned, it's just the same as any other VW.

It's a subtle visual modification to a car which looks good.

Personalising your registration plate is more practical way of attracting attention in my opinion..

Mines 5 characters, and is easier to remember than the standard 7 characters.

Non-argument, everything has a value to someone.
