F20's are disposable. If it breaks, buy a new one for £50... F28's are stupidly expensive for what you get because they are generally really old...

cant find one by me... been to one scrappy today and they said they get 2-3 a year!

Just about every scrap yard you go to will have at least 5 rusty Cavalier 2.0 8v's... They will all have gearboxes in them that you can use...

F16 is the one out of a 1.6 sport in it??? Mine u cant as i have oversized driveshafts....

Nope, an F16 is what 2.0 astra's use... I think 1.8 Astras use them too.

You just had your engine fitted and the box is on the way out didnt you have them reconned before fitting??

Did the head gasket but the box seemed fine!

Got a cav cheap as the clutch cable had snapped!

I'm sure the ration's in F16cr and F20cr are the same

(1st might be slightly l;onger on one)

just the F20 can handle more power

so if the F16 is close ratio it's better for 1/4 miles if it lasts long enough??

tbh i would go with a F20 if you plan to modify the engine in the long term otherwise your going to buy an F16 modify the engine blow up the F16 then need a F20 waste of money if you ask me

duh..... the F20 above is CR

F20cr, F16c - both close ratio boxes with near identical gearing. I'd always go for the F20

do the numbers relate to the amount of power they can handle?

ie. f16 - 160bhp
f20 - 200bhp
