a few of you might remember that i was looking into manufacturing some inlet manifolds a little while back

heres the post:

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=184369

anyway, that little project didnt get off the ground due to the costs involved, so it was back to the drawing board for a new design. and its done! im just posting up these very rough pics at the moment to gague interest and get some feedback on the design.

front:

back:

the manifold itself will come in various different finishes/colours, and will be around £350 all in including a full fitting kit and step by step photo instructions. this design has been flow tested and has performed very well compared to the mantzel powerbox.

please leave your comments and questions,

thanks, Dave

ps. the final produced items will be a lot smoother looking than these examples, and the base plate will be machined to be the same shape as the lower half of the manifold, rather than square.

looks good, end of the day if its a performance inlet, the main think is it performs well, you can make a cover to go round the outside if its not as "pretty" as you originally antisipated! looks good tho mate, top work for doing it

What are the performance like when you have a performance inlet manifold on the engine. (x16xe)

Looks good mate

looking wicked mate
if your saying it performs better than mantzel then thats excellent!!

The GSi C16xe needs a new "lower inlet manifold" when putting on a new upper inlet because of the crap/noisey/old design one... will you be taking this into account and also do the Lower inlet aswell in the £350???

when will production/sales start??
Deffintley interested, keep us informed

i will be doing some for the c16xe as well, but will be more like £425 as ill need to sort out lower inlets as well. i already have a few ready for c16xe kits, but will be special order only.

so £425 for the gsi c16xe version!
well... its still cheaper than mantzel used to be!

1) but is that £425 with delivery + sprayed in colour of our choice??
2) is that pic the final production version??
3) will it be nice and tidy like the "dibilas" one or like the "mantzel" with pipes going and coming everywere??
4) what about gaurantee??

Big problem with your Design mate

was looking into this for my LET
all below taken from http://www.max-boost.co.uk

The page with all the Details on...........

But that doesn't make it any good - cylinder #4 will not get the same airflow as #1. If the airflow is different among the cylinders, the fuelling will be all over the place, won't it? So the ignition needs will be different for each cylinder. But even if these are all smoothed out (and no cylinder detonates), the different airflow will result in each cylinder producing different amounts of power, so the delicate balance of the 4-cylinder design goes out of the window: some cylinders will be working against each other.

This manifold suffers from the same 'unequal feed' syndrome. The injectors will supply the same amount of fuel in each cylinder, but even a variance of 10%

Below is a high-flow inlet manifold for the Skyline GTS (six cylinder, single turbo). It shows how it should be done. Note the shape of the 'rail', the aim is to have identical flow in the runners,

beardy, the manzel is a uniform shape, as is the velos (both torque tube and the pulse)

well pointed out beardy. this was taken into consideration with the design. a few different ways of getting around this were thought up, but there was no 'real' benefits of making a tapered intake plenum (as seen in the skyline one) the only way to get an even quantity of air to every cylinder is to use direct port throttles (throttle bodies).

when the design was tested, the airflow to cylinder 3&4 was considerably better than other designs, for example the manzel powerbox that i have fitted was tested and the 'new' inlet performed a lot better.

when taking airflow into consideration on 4 cylinder smallblock engines (1.4/1.6) you will also need to take cylinder vaccum/compression into account befor assuming that a certain cylinder wont have enough air.

also, if you look at the skyline engine it has 6 cylindres. this is why the inlet design is tapered. now look at the pic of the skyline inlet again and just look at the first 4 branches. not really tapered until you get past the first 4 is it?

thanks for the comments though mate, gives me a chance to show how much background work/ testing has gone into this project.
