Well a Mk2 Golf GTi 8v does 0-60 in 8.53sec and 0-100 in 25.62sec

Mk3 GTi 8v does 0-60 in 10.44sec and 0-100 in 34.49sec

Im thinking going by those figures your mk2 2.0 8v is gonna get wasted

Golf 2.0 8v is really slow imo

Actually the 8v is more driveable than the 16v, and got better reviews at the time.

Unlike most 8v's this one had a bit of poke. As you say not fast though.

Gti180 engine is fantastic, as is the line up of HDi diesels, far superior to the wheezy mexican tosh they have in them at the moment

Mk3 gti engine seems IMO a strange choice for a conversion? Seeming as they are renound for a distinct "lack" of performance?

i wouldnt say its "fast" but it can easily leave Corsa Gsi's, fair races with standard Vts's and 106Gti's... but i aint arsed cos engine aint staying in anyway

Weight difference then? As a Mk3 gti did 0-60 in the same time as a 1.4 sport....
