I was told by a mechanic that your car has a set level for default ... basically the AFM measures the amount of air passing through / temp in a way... and varies fueling accordingly.
I used to have probs with my AFM on my corsa - causing it to run lean higher in ther revs. I never tried this - but the mechanic said if u unplugged the AFM it'd run with the default setting (where as if you left it plugged in, but had the pipe come off on the other side (thus no air flowing through the AFM) your car stops working as I found out.
Might have a spare AFM in my garage, not sure.

That was one of those useless sensors the engine never needed so its fine to unplug.

Because of this, http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=216821I am trying to figure out what is actually causing the problem. Thought by eliminating the AFM thingy could see if it was that.

no luck with the carb cleaner after many attempts.
not sure whether to just buy a new AMM or if the problem could just be the plug, which looks pretty fucked does it not?

the plug looks like it has been gashed open and rewired!
most problems with misfires etc are the afm or the egr valve! vauxhall have now stopped fitting egr valves on MY05 YIPEE!
or it could be the coil pack!
all of these cost a fair few quid!
