Hi there,

I'm posting here for a while now and showed some pictures of the car, but didn't find the time to tell about my x16xe project

It all started wit another exhaust and a K&N universal sportsfilter wich surprised me alot wit a dynorun @ 119 BHP @ 5690rpm/151Nm @ 4780rpm (that's an increase of 13BHP without de-catting the exhaust )

Well.. that just tickled me to go and fetch some more of those lovely bhp's

so i started going on!

So I got a mantzel powerbox installed (it was a 2nd hand box so i painted and polished it)


Only a few weeks later i managed to destroy the standard headgasket including some of the headnuts (dont know if i'm using the right word)
so it became obvious that a minor rebuild was needed.

I didn't feel like doing this again after a little time so while the repairs got done i got:
- head skimmed
- new valveseals
- new waterpump
- spesso racing headgasket



and i took over a set of kentcams sports-r 260 (COR1612) wich got installed while rebuilding the head


however i forgat to do my homework on the kentcams so after installation the car went on a stationairy rampage, overfueling like a bitch that drunk too much..

so i was forced to go decat (cat.converter doesn't like the taste of unburned fuel)
to get the stationairy run under my own controll ik installed a FSE Powerboostvalve to be able to play around a bit with the fuelpressure.


right after that i went to a local engineer to do a dynorun, remap the ecu and do a second run.

sad but true his computers refused to start up the remapping software so the only thing that happenned that day was 1 run without print just to measure the air-fuel ratio to check if the powerboostvalve was adjusted correctly..

while looking @ the monitor after the run i got amazed a bit..
it showed a reading of 160BHP @ 6800rpm (wich also is the revlimiter)
i'm wondering what will be unleashed if the ecu got remapped and the revlimiter kicked up to 7800 rpm.

A few weeks later the enginering firm still didn't have his software running so i checked out of their clientlist and got myself an appointment at mantzel tuning in germany ( http://www.mantzel.de ) as they're quit known with opel/vauxhall and alway have their stuff sorted out.
next friday my corsa will be remapped by mantzel together with a friend of mine wich had kind of the same setup but only with other cams and a bigger exhaust.

wish me luck @ mantzel!

thats one strong 16XE! 160bhp is damn good going!

good torque on the graph too. 110lb/ft with 120bhp.

to bad they didn't give me a printout.. (didn't pay so that's quite normal)

i wonder if anyone else here also had the kentcams COR1612 in his/her x16xe or x14xe because i never expected it to mess up the stationairy run like this..

not yet.. as i tried to tell in my 1st post the engineer i went to didn't get his remapping software running.

1st of july i'll have it remapped by mantzel

this is a printout of a friend of mine wich will go wiith me to also have his ecu remapped again because he had his head 'done' (inlets flowed)

he has almost the same setup exept:
- other cams i believe mantzels
- bigger accelleratorvalve
- already has a remapped ecu
- group A ehaust
- green twister system

nice graph, although the torque is peaking very very high in the rev range.
I suspect your problems result from not having a remap done for the cams. checked the ICV though?

the icv keeps getting dirty indeed.. and i keep on cleaning it

the /axel/ graph isn't mine ey! that a printout of my friend's x16xe corsa

no not at all

i set the pbv to overfuel the engine a bit just to prevent that from happenning (underfuel is evil)

no flames but some loud bang's while rolling out in revs people instantly pulling over to check their tires.. kinda funny but it also uses a bit more fuell now

i'm stil wondering why i didn't get any tickets for the noise

yeah a good sign i guess that there is enough fuel getting through.

it is a Sytec gauge but it's commonly deliverred with the FSE Powerboostvalve

i got it from a dutch tuningshop called biesheuvel ( http://www.biesheuvel.nl )

Thats excellent, what duration cams are you running? I am going to be running this spec in the near future and hope to be running 145bhp (BTW I have the X16XE in the Corsa A)

Oh and I thought Mantzel had gone under? If they are still operating I would'nt mind getting hold of one of there chips they sell.

Also if you turn the limiter up you'll defo need APR conrods imo

mantzel was never gone.. they made a... damn here goes the bad english again

restart under the same company name?

The ecu remap is done on a mantzel chip!
my friend allready has one and i'm getting one.. as for the duration of the cams plz check my 2nd reply where i posted all the cam specs incl. duration

what are apr conrods?

i'm dutch so i think i need a kiddy-explanation to understand (pictures?)

those are the cams i'm getting with my throttle bodies on an X14XE
i'm hoping for 145bhp at least

yes these cams are best used with an aftermarket injection system and ecu like TB's and DTA

But i think i can also have lot of fun with a mantzel chip, powerboostvalve and powerbox also a littlebit after market

does anybody here have it;s gsi painted by hand (rolled) ?

Intresting, very intersting indeed. Do you have a new contact telephone number for Mantzel now?

ARP Conrod bolts are used to compensate for the higher rev limit (strengthening the internals of the engine)
