Amem, once you go MAC you never go back. Just been modding mine, to make it run quieter and cooler. It 4 years old and runs sooo sweet, they last a lot longer than pc's which are out of date within 6 months, they are more powerful, they are stable (mine has NEVER crashed) and what ever you plug just works simple as.

the only reason they last longer is because they are rarely upgraded, PC's are being developed all the time, hence why the mac will never win the speed and power race with a PC.
Gaming and programming etc are best done on a PC, graphic design and music manipulation on a mac

Macs may not have the fastest clock speed but are more powerful. for instance:
Mine: Powermac G4 867mHz
Dads: AMD Althlon XP 2.0gHz
My mac slaps the pc in the face from running word, to video rendering.
The mac OS is basically UNIX with a cool front end, hence the stablity and power advantage over windows.
Personally:
Gaming: PS2
Programming: Linux/Unix box
Everything else: Mac
I have built Pc's for about 10 years, still do and can honestly say that they are a pile of wank, the trouble and hassle that comes with them has been the most annoying thing for me in the last ten years.

if you built macs from sratch then they would be hassle too, its only because macs come complete out of the box, i have to disagree with the video rendering, is it doing it at the same res? i would like to see a mac score a higher 3d mark that a PC of reasonable spec

Apple macs are industry standard for digital video editing mate. I've only ever used them when I've been editing. PC's just arent used because they are too unstable and to get one powerful enough you'd have to spend silly money and even then it wont be stable enough.

Try running a decent operating system ontop of the architecture first

i agree with willay, macs are just for people concerned about their image. same goes for companies. oooooh look here everybody, an imac on every desk! ooooh! in all fairness, they do look the business, but im not convinced on their power or software productivity. Latest AMD64's are far more efficient than the latest G5's.
Apple knows this too, hence Pentium being brought into the equation on the next gen of machines.
