has anyone got one of these? I was originally considering getting an ipod mini 6gb, but for £40 i could get something with a much larger capacity. My only concern is that it will be too bulky to carry round all the time.
What does everyone reckon?
Cheers,
James

iPods are gay. They are for gay people who are fasion victims. People who own iPods are likely to say phrases like metrosexual.

very helpful, but name one suitable alternative then, the sony 20gb? Don't like the look of it particularly. Also considered Rio Carbon, but that's only 5GB.

the HD5 is tempting, but it still doesn't have the range of accessories or a colour screen. Ahh dilemma.

Why do you need a clour screen, all it's showing you is what song it's playing.

Its a sony though!!! Crap build quality stopped me from buying.
Although im on ipod 2 (duff battery on first) its well made, and customer service was so much better than Sony. My Sony mini disc £250 worth of junk. I lost it for 3 months when it went to a service centre for repair. Alas it came back untouched (they forgot). Went back again, was meant to be fixed, but still skipped on playback when put on a flat surface. Same hassle with ps2's.
Sony - nice, but crap build quality and lousy customer service.

Btw I have used a 20 gig u2 one every day for the past 6 months. It lives in my sweaty pocket and has so far survived daily abuse.
New ones are meant to have better batt life. www.ebuyer.co.uk are selling re conditioned minis for £99.99

Matt H - that is very true, alos the range of accessories (iTrip!) is far superior to any other mp3 player!
ryanss - how do you find the size of the ipod? obviously i would prefer a 20gb one the size of a mini, but thats not possible. so you think it is realistic to carry a 20gb ipod with you on a daily basis?
Cheers

I've used 12 gig so far. Mini would be ok as long as you delete stuff you get bored of. Im far to lazy, and it would mess up my playlists. I have a 2 hour train journey to work, so its a life saver.

Itrip is great for short distances, but I find no matter what freq I put it on, I get interferance at some point during long distances. Might have to buy an Aux lead for my jvc so I can plug straight in.

thanks for clearing my queries up guys. I went into town at lunchtime and looked at both units in john lewis. both seemed very good quality, i much preferred the size and battery life of the sony. However, the look/screen of the ipod impressed me loads! What shall I do?! Ahh!

nothing comes close to ipods when talking about portable music. no other brand has yet to create so much useful additions.
