basically its got a plastic top to it and in the haynes manual it says "simply unscrew the housing to remove filter"
i cant unscrew the fucker

erm it means u unscrew it all to remove the filter u dont take the plastic top off

the lot unscrews and then u screw the new one in

can be a bit tight mind

its not like all the other normal filters. this one you just replace the filter element not the entire casing like the rest of the engines.

yes they are quite tight, i used a set of mole grips on the top but that was on a 1.2 16v. Is there nothing to grip, on the 1.2 16v one theres a big hex?

yeah there is a hex, i tried two different mole grips, but both sets started to break of little bits ofplastic
gave up, although when i filled the car up with oil, litre by litre, did three litres, turned the car on and noticed smoking from the mainfold

i once couldnt get oil filter off the vectra so i hammered a screwdriver into it then used it as a lever

is the haynes manual a green one?

go to the oil change section and it'll split into two, one for 1.0lt/1.2lt and the other for 1.4lt/1.6lt
