Petrol tank
Passenger side cv boot
Passenger side bottom ball joint..
Todats result
Headlights neading adjusted -
Horn needing wired -
Side repeaters flashing white -
Chassis leg - cannae mind what he said about it but not a big problem..
Cross member - welding needing done
Passenger side rear spring not seated correctly -
Drivers side drive shaft gaiter lose -
Flexi / brake pipes needing replaced -
Rear wheel bearings - can be adjusted
Handbrake - to be adjusted
EMISSIONS - through the roof......You NEED a cat after AUG 92 !!! Always thought it was 93..
anybody else had problems with emissions on the redtop conversion ???
Not too bad really alot of wee things that are easly fixed, few biggies, will get most of it at mates rates....
Will get it back middle of next week...
least i've got my hire car, ford KA to use..
Full mot as of next week then..

sure is, is a 12 year old car though..
he is going to fox it all and get it back next week...
least it not needing new sills etc, stuff like that..

all small things then..
if u tell them the engine is froma 1990 astra the emmissions is different, i checked this all out when i de-cated my valver and it was all legal guy even showed me the sentence in the mot boo!

Yeah it's based on the engine -- my emissions were stupidly high until they realised the engine wasn't original....

Vehicles fitted with a different engine
Test according to which is older , engine or vehicle.
eg. A 1995 car fitted with a 1991 engine (of whatever make), test to 1991 standards for emission purposes.
Note: The onus is on the vehicle presenter to prove engine age.

Aye he konws it based on the engine not car. i'll double check though...
after august 92 cat must be fitted..
How can i prove the year of the engine exactly??
Probably looking at about £300 i think, + the £150 i've already paid....maybe dunno just guessing...

he was testing it on year of car not engine..
he has just read manual again and all ok with emissions

i been thinking of getting a cheaper car than originally planned that i have for a year till i'm 25, been considering yours or Tim's
Tim's is nice and near me, prefer the 3d gsi tho, but scotland is quite a trek

Emissions Mine shoots out a bit of black smoke when it starts up and while its warming up when you give it a bit of stick... Should be quite funny when I come to MOT it next year

I never had any probs at MOT time for mine.
Passed with flying colours. Guy said i had a really good car there.
Was impressed to say the least.
I did tell him the engine was out of a 1990 car tho so the emissions where fine.
not anything really big on there Mav but alot of niggly things.
But at least it will all be sorted, better knowing about them before they break eh?

Mine passes regardless,
£15 in the testers pocket,
i got away with LHD headlights, wrong side repeaters, emisions test was done on a fiesta
surely if hes your brother in law he could sort it for you
