I recieved an email to my hotmail from ebay saying unpaid item
i thought this was strange as that email address is not the one i use for my ebay account

i clicked on the item link and it asked me to log into ebay

dodgy again i thought so i didnt log in

so i copied the item number into ebay and it brought the same item up only i wasnt the winning bidder

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7165006036&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Fcgiurl%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%252Fws%252F%26fkr%3D1%26from%3DR8%26satitle%3D7165006036%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1

brett told me to click on the link again and enter any random username and password and it then took me to a payment screen

here is link

http://217.20.114.1/~mike/ebay%20suspend%20tko/?ws/eBayISAPI.dll/?ResolveDispute&DisputeId=61693515?ViewItem&item=7165006036&ssPageName=STRK:MEMM:IID?SignIn&pUserId=&co_partnerId=2&siteid=0&pageType=-1&pa1=&i1=-1&UsingSSL=1&bshowgif=0&favoritenav=&ru=http://www.ebay.com&pp=&errmsg=8

click it and enter something random and see for yourself

Forward the mail to spoof@ebay.com

This is not unusual - it looks like the link is one address but it takes you somewhere else. You wouldn't go with someone if you promised to show you puppies, you learnt that in school. God knows why you must follow a link in an email just because it tells you something about your account which the ebay web interface has not.

For the record, IP belongs to these people:

person: Wiethold Wagner
address: netdirekt e. K.
address: Kleyer Strasse 79 / Tor 14
address: 60326 Frankfurt
address: DE
phone: +49 69 90556880
fax-no: +49 69 905568822
e-mail: info@netdirekt.de

person: Simon Roehl
address: netdirekt e. K.
address: Kleyer Strasse 79 /Tor 14
address: 60326 Frankfurt
address: DE
phone: +49 69 90556880
fax-no: +49 69 905568822
e-mail: technik@netdirekt.de

Your mate is a moron and deserves to have his ebay account used illegitimately.

Thats not really fair.
They aren't exactly targetting literate users.
They will fool exactly the sort of people they are trying to.
You were obviously born knowing computers inside out and could spot a phishing scam from 50 paces before you could walk.

Get the eBay toolbar, it has a built in feature that warns you of any potential spoofs - clicking the link up there made it go nuts.
