Looking pretty good so far. My only concern would be how much they stick out? Might just be the angel of the photo however

looking good buddy make sure that you test fit them and check that your window winders still go around before going much further!!!
As for what you will need.... you will be best off with a fibreglass kit (Resin Hardener and matting) and then some bodyfiller (P38) dont use the P40 its a waste of time, its nowhere near as strong as the fibreglass matting and resin.

The tip to fibreglassing is to be patient....
also do the strips from top to bottom, this will help get your curve from the speaker down to the plastic,
just remember take your time, get a strip on then fibreglass this, if there isnt enough resin on it put some more on before putting the next strip on. remember instead of doing it as one big thing do it as lots of small bits..

i got some alpine type R's as seen above (6.5 inch too),the magnet didnt fit in the door so basically read the door pod tutorial, fears thread about making them, and lookin in a_j's garage and had a bash myself.
so id think you would need space,i know mine are a little big but thats just the way they have turned out tbh,if i was gona do it again id do them so they were smaller and more angled up

I'm thinking I'm gonna have to have a go at this as I cant find anywhere that sells them ready made. I'll probably make a complete balls up of it but I've got a spare set of the bottom part of the doorcards lying around so what the hell

Just thinking... when you start to smooth them into the existing plastic door card how the hell do you get the curve to be the same on either door card?!

you just fibreglass it, and then use filler to make it smooth, you make them the same by sight. they dont have to be identical just similar, you cant look at both at the same time

looking brilliant for your first ever attempt mate, prehaps a lil too big and not angled up enough! but in general it does look quite professional so far, keep it up dude
i want to do mine to soon, but havnt tried it before either
so does this resin and hardner stick fine to the wood, foam and door card plastic?? so all u gotta do to finish is sand all down then prime and spray colour??
