Right solved everything else, exhaust blowing, manifold gasket, bad idle etc....
Last problem is the eml is on but only comes on when i boot it and then stays on..
Basically from turn on the eml is off and will stay off until i boot it then it will come on but only seems to be restricting power very slightly... im thinking throttle position sensor but has anyone else had these symptons before.. im going to attempt to do the paperclip test sometime soon just havent had the time yet
Cheers in advance

sounds like the exact same problem as what i had when i got mine.
mine turned out to be my cam shaft position sensor (the senor in the cam belt area).
all i can say is (if its whats wrong with yours) a wee bit of a small fortune

when i bought my car eml came on on way home after gettin it (so he said) fixed under the waranty (and 4 trips back to where i got it (enfield) and a new cam shaft sensor (£160, so he said) it still came on i had a local machanic do a cam belt change which was £120 and luckily, touch wood hasnt come on since but was a lot of hassle and it fuked me off big style!!!

hmm i dont think its that big of a deal because its really not slowing me down much at all still beating vtr's and zetec's etc no problem its just cutting the power ever so slightly...
Im thinking either throttle position sensor, o2 sensor or i dunno what else

If it had lost any power its was ever so minimal - i could not tell, but i had nothing to compare it to
do your paper clip test - if its 0340 its ya cam shaft sensor

if i remeber 10 flashes ie, x x x x x x x x x x = 10 then there would b a pause then go x x x = 3 pasue (couple of seconds) x x x x = 4 pasue x x x x x x x x x x x = 10 bingo code, then compare it to the list of codes

the x's equal the flashes that the eml will flash when u turn the ignition on (not engine) then just mark and watch
