Finally got round to re-doing a few bits of bodywork on the Corsa... All the pictures are located in my garage, though I will be posting a few as I go along.
Here's how it looks at the minute:
There are various little cracks and things in the bodywork like these:
As well as that nothing seemed to fit right:
Also a certain bodyshop left it's mark on the car by bodging a lot of things on it:
So yesterday I wheeled her into my brand new workshop (Thanks Dad!) to get set working on the problems...
I shortly found out later that all the bodywork had far, far too much easy sand filler on it, but underneath everything was properly bonded and fibreglassed. So instead on completely re-doing everthing I made the decision to remove all the filler and re-skim the work using far, far less filler. This will hopefully not crack as easily, but only time will tell...
Once I was done sanding everything I fibreglassed over (with real chopped strand fibreglass and resin) the holes and low spots on the metal and fibreglass, trying not to get anything on the plastic arches. I managed to do that in most places apart from the end of the sideskirt. However I did put in four self tapping screws into the end of the sideskirt to prevent movement and cracks.
I'm just waiting for the resin to dry now so I can sand off the excess and get skimming, sanding, priming and saning again. I sould hopefully have this side done by today...

Repairs mainly, and a bit of a smoothing mission too. Loosing the door handles. Oh and possibly a slight bad boy on the boot.

We do all our own work on cars, so you 'like' me
Seriously though, ed, looks good, will you be painting it yourself or will that be handed over to a bodyshop?
nice car BTW

Yea, it's great working in a lovely light workshop. It's soon to have a painted flor, extractor fan, 50 litre compressor and work bench fitted in...
I'm off to go sand the resin down on the fibreglass and to get skimming the work in a min, will hopefuly have a few more pictures of it all later on today.

A friend of mine is going to be painting the car for me, but I'm going to get him to teach me how to spray so I can give the interior plastics and other things a go later on next year...
I will hopefully have the exterior fininshed by Max Power 2006
I want this car completely fininshed for PVS...
