My car today came up with a problem.

It started to rev up to 2k, then back to idle then back up to 2k, after a while this changed to 3k and so on and now it revs up to 5k. i dont have the car in gear or am i reving it. its very imbarasing expecialy in the traffic today.

when i listen to it is sound like an air leak somewhere, but there is no lose in power and the eml has not came on either.

here is a video for you

http://media.putfile.com/PIC006

thats wot its like all the time and even if im not in the car

could anyone give me any ideas to the problem.

thanks

Mark

when im in gear it is fine, but it will drive on its own, when i change gear it revs up to 5k, i went along at 70mph on the motorway then put it in neutral and coasted along at it was still doin it.

i think it is ICV or a airpipe as split.

no way am i goin to vauxhall, they will say something stupied.

yer phil the EGR valve, light still comes on for it but im goin to sort that out soon

the icv is on the side of the throttle body. that would be my first port of call, iirc the throttle body on the x16 is quite easy to remove.

Right its all fixed now and running sweet.

It was the black rubber pipe that runs from the top inlet to the throttle, it had about an inch long cut in it. Got replacement part from vauxhall for £27 but then had work so left it, but then got a phone call from my old man saying its all back together now so then when i got home just now i took it for a blast and its great, seems to run alot better as well

Thanks everyone for the help
