bought my vented one a while back off ebay - now i know why he sold it

the side bits just ripped off mine, luckily i noticed it pulling away and it fell off in the garage rather than flying off while driving.

Got pins on now to hold the front down and just sent the bonnet to a mate for repairing and to make strong so its not gonna happen again.

FAO those with bonnets keep an eye out of them for them cracking round where you bolt them on

A few of mates have carbon bonnets, on various cars by various manufactures and the fit on them is pretty shocking!

Bareing in mind how much they cost you would think they would at least fit half decent

the vented ones sell for £450-£550ish depending where you go and for that the metal plates on the side with the nuts in were stuck in with "FUCKIN FILLER" and it ripped off like that - tacky or wot!

overtightened - Carbon - no matter hwo good the quality is dire in impact - an over tightened bolt would rip the weave apart, you get water into the crack and it'll expand when frozen ripping the bonnet apart

I lay up a foam core inside mine with shear ties to stop massive compression - but then again I charged a guy with a CTR £1000 for a one off one the other month and £500 for each wing, the guy gets to keep the mould at that price - but even so its a lot of money to pay but you get it right first time!

you do get what you pay for but you also have to be careful

a big enough stone - which would normally just chip a bonnet will cause severe cracking to a carbon bonnet

My carbon bonnet is also cracked, but it was due to having really powerful bonnet lifters that are used to lifting a normal bonnet

nothing wrong with them if you think about what your doing and do everything correctly the first place, i.e. dont fit bonnet lifters that are too powerful

They're light and stronger than fiberglass, which is the main reason to fit. If you want to pose, perhaps there are some impracticalities to be aware of.
