Very hard to adjust to.
You need about a month that you can do absolutely nothing to get into the swing of it and also a schedule that can fit it.
Would be cool though.

It is natural.
Babies sleep that way and animals too.
'normal' sleep is not natural.

if it was natural then you'd feel the need to to do it....?
babies need more sleep than adults, you cannot compare the two

I've read into it quite a bit and from my research polyphasic sleep is much more natural than monophasic.
We are conditioned from babies into sleeping at night and getting up in the morning.
Babies sleep for a couple of hours at a time.
Its not the time they stay asleep for, its the sleping more than once.
And as above, most animals also do it this way.
You also sleep for much less on a polyphasic sleeping pattern and gain many many hours.
Lots of pluses but I've never had the spare month to try and adjust to it.

i though the way we sleep now was to do with the time the sun set and went down ect.
e.g. in cave man times when the sun was shining at 6 in the morning it was time to hunt, and when the sun went down it was to dark to hunt so we went to sleep.
plus it just doesnt seem natural, i would actually like to see a reaseach piece on it rather than some website telling you the benifits without any conctrete evidence.

Its not as if they are trying to sell you something though.
Its just people documenting their experiences of it.
You don't have to believe it.
I'm sure there is a link to a book in the 1st site posted that is scientific research on the subject.

not saying they are trying to sell me something, if there is actual research then fair enough i cba to read it all tbh.
just think it would be irresponsible to put lots of advantages of it and entice people to do if there are risks that have not been properrly researched and documented.

It looks very good Ian, the amount of extra time you get is unbelievable.
I've tried to start off with a 3-4 hour core sleep then a couple of naps during the day but you need to be dedicated for the first few weeks and i've not managed it yet.

you have 6 30mins sleeps at:
2 AM, 6 AM, 10 AM, 2 PM, 6 PM, and 10 PM
No other sleep allowed.
I'm starting tommorow, I'm having my last full nights sleep tonight.
I work full time but I've let my work know I'm doing it, I work in an office which should make the timings easier rather than most other jobs.
I think its all about getting into the routine and keeping busy. I am determined though
I am setting up a blog tonight so record my progress

Sounds like some cruel sleep deprivation experiment from a concentration camp or similar.
Quite sadistic, and I would have thought bad for you.
I think i'll stick to my 8 - 9 hrs at night dependant on knackeredness levels.

sounds very interesting but who really has a month to test out some sleep experiment? you must lead a very pointless life if you dedicate a month to that! get a job!

i agree, sounds quite pathetic actually, trying to modify literally EVERYTHING about our lives and the way we function. where is the fun in falling asleep with a loved one next to you, only to have to leave them 20 minutes later because you are on a fucking sleep schedule. SAD SACKS
