As im bored, and I'm inspired by Phil's "before and after" thread, I thought I'd do one! I brought it as a completely standard 1994 Corsa Swing in January 2005 for £450. 117,000 on the clock, 2 Elderly Owners.

These pics are the most original I have of it, but I'd already begun to fiddle - Punto Wiper, DeBadged and De Rub Stripped, Zafira Side Reps!

So, Before:

1 Year later, I still haven't even spent £1000 (including the car!) and it looks like this:

Future plans include:

35mm GMAX Lowering springs which are just sitting in my room awaiting some shocks!

Also got GSI steering wheel lined up, And I'd like a decent backbox, Post 97 Bumpers in black, a badgeless grille, then probably sell it before the engine gives way - currently on 127,100 and its developed a water drinking problem

I know it looks pretty much like a standard sport, but I have done a reasonable amount of work on it imo?

It's not! Caribic Blue all the way through - 2 different colours - Pics of original car on a camera worth about £350 - My recent pics on a camera worth about £100! But the latter pics are actually more accurate colouring tbh!

*Ahem* looks like a standards SRi...

Sport's are colour coded and didn't come in that colour

Joking apart, car looks much better with the subtle (and cheap) mods you have done

Jonster - Cheers. Yeh I meant SRi tbh. Yep cheap is the only thing I can afford atm. Alloys were £120 from Jamie Walby on here Irmscher spoiler was meant to be cheap but I brought it off the guy who ran CarGraohics4u. It was advertised as Caribic Blue, got it home, it was Arden Blue, so had to get it resrayed Also don't want to spend too much as the engine is now ancient, I can't afford to insure a 1.4+ and also tbh, I wouldn't be able to afford the insurance! Costs me £1400 as it is F/C with the few mods I have done declared!

Rob - Phil's car is how I'd like mine to end up - Post 97 Bumpers (but left black) Badgeless Grille, Smoked DEPO's etc. However, I won't be going as low as his. His car was also one of the 1st I saw on CS - being similar age, and relatively local to me etc, I took more interest in what he was doing to his Corsa.

I have a feeling though, that in typical CS fashion, I'm just about to get shot down for my thread?!

i didnt mean to be sarcastic, i just couldnt see what you meant

i think it looks good so far, and tbh, the engine problem is not a problem, you could swap the 1.2 over to another 8v engine in a day easily

Is it easy? Im also running a 4 speed box atm unfortunately. I have been considering doing a transplant for another 1.2 tbh - what would need to be changed if I opted for a 16v? I still want to do more to this car, but money, insurance and the current engine limits me. Bodywork wise, its pretty neat condition imo.

to be fair, fo ease of transplant, i'd go for a 1.4 8v, or another 1.2 8v with a five speed box

its not difficult at all, if you went for a 1.4 with single point injection, or another 1.2, all you need to change is the engine itself

I could do a 1.2 8v then. Had quotes on a 1.4 just out of interest about a month ago - would be looking at paying around £2k insurance which I cannot fund at all. How much would I be looking at for another 1.2 8v with lower mileage? Would be interested in a relatively simple mechanical project like this.
