Does it have to be road legal?
MOT Passable?
Get rid of Cat, straight back to the tailpipe, derestrict intake, Put a combat 2 bodykit on it to help airflow and a beesting arial to make you more streamline.
Oh, and a nice big spoiler to keep it on the road
In all seriousness though.... Good Luck

Tried the following on my nova 1.2
1.2 NZ block, change head to 1.2 carbed head, ported polished skimmed, use the 1.2 or 1.3 carbed heads, stay away from the spi heads and 1.4 sr.
Sportex 4-1 branch manifold. The std 4-2-1 cast iron manifolds from sr, sri and gte are shite compared to this, so even though ppl suggest it don't bother, its not worth it.
2inch piping striaght thru exhaust (no cat or middle boxes.)
Kent AST2 cam
Used to run on twin 40s. Changed to a webber carb with k&n on the 1300sr manifold, and honestly found that i lost no power what so ever over the 40s. Plus it gave the engine abit more power down low 1500 -3000rpm, thats where i needed abit of help cause the ast2 cam give a really strong powerband from 3000rpm upwards so the engine was quite lumpy below 3000rpm. But the 32/34 still provided more than enough fuel for the upper rev range
Also changed the fd in the gearbox from a 3.94 or 3.74 can't rember which, to a 4.18cwp. Was running 14/50/185 tyres with this so there was really good aceleration, would surpise u how much a of difference it makes to the feeling of the power.
In the End the car could beat mildly tuned 1.3, 1.4 sr and 1.4spi mpi. Never had it up against a 1.6mpi, but i would reckon it may keep up with it most of the way. It was lovely to drive, as soon as you floor the boot it responeded by reving its block off, it was very rev-happy, at one time i had it at over 8000rpm altough i would'nt been keen on trying it again lol but it was at 7000rpm regularly as there was plenty of power to be had up there
Obivously it was no rocket ship, it still would of been under 100bhp, after going this far on engine mods, it is'nt worth going any further on a 1.2 bottom end, not worthwhile tuning up a 1.2 bottom end, just change to a 1.4 1.6 and you can still use all the same parts as u have been using on the 1.2. All in all i can say it has been worth the work and money that went into it, was great fun coming from 45hp to to nearly 80- 90 or so.

Contact N.A.S.A and ask them for a second hand jet engine and weld it in to the roof of ya corsa
that should up the power a little

depends how ur testing it really.
don't bother with air box... just take an empty pipe straight from carbs if you get them. doesn't matter how much cack gets in there really does it. maybe put a sock/pair of tights over it just to stop leaves etc getting in

nope, was a fun project, got all the parts dirt cheap of ebay 2nd hand. And fitted all them myself. Was more or less making a point, yes 1.2 are worth mild tuning if you can't afford insurance on a bigger engine. All that needs to be reported to the insurance company is visable things like exhaust system and maybe the twin choke webber carb. You would be quite suprised how nippy the little car was for a 1.2.

won't bother tuning the 1.2 if you intend to keep the spi, cant get much power from it. as the carb and carbed head and so on is what the power is based on
