aye aye....

been looking at westie on ebay and autotrader. like so...

1997 WESTFIELD SEI Sprint Hillclimb car,
4,000 miles, Westfield SEi Wide Chassis. Sprint & Hillclimb (not road legal). 2ltr Vauxhall 16v, 175 bhp, Ford 5-spd box, ltd slp diff, Hoosier slicks, rain tyres. Fully enclosed alloy trailer. Ready to race!. £8,500

Anyone know whats involved in switching one running say ford gear over to VX?

What other platforms cater for VX in kit form? I.E. the mounts etc? Is it just a case of swapping out mounts to swap engine types, as i know most run ford RWD trans.

Brad?

I have caterham and westfield price lists and brochures at home, but not much use just now

The idea would be to swap over my 2.1 into a kit car, and maybe pop a 20let into the preped shell i have. and sell the 205, ken

Most run Ford Sierra transmission, you can get bellhousings that allow you to fit a Vauxhall engine straight onto this nice and easily.

Basically, whatever kit car you get you are more than likely to be using Sierra transmission. Kit cars aren't really designed for any specific engine, however most will be doesigned with Ford or Vauxhall engines in mind. However a good choice for engine now days is somethig Jap like a V-Tec as they are a bot newer and tunable. Duratec engines are a prety popular choice too.

I'd say do it, your engine would be perfect for a track day kit car as it is almost a full race spec engine

There's usually enough clearance in the chassis. My mate is putting an XE in a Robin Hood 2B and it physically fits although the plating around the pedals etc. is a bit tighter.

My uncle worked for lotus back in the day building engines for 7's.

Was one of their top 5 engine builders.

Moved down to Kent and set up building 7's for people from kits.

He could tell you more about them than most people at lotus there days
