WHo has actually driven one who owns a crosa etc, they seem to have pretty good pace, the 100bhp ones and they seem to be ace around the roundabouts, had a play with one tonight and i pulled away slightly on the straight but it was certainly quicker around the corners etc...

Just wandering what peoples opinions are on them who have actually driven one

i have driven 100bhp one many times, (pics in garage) good pace off the line with good response, engine revs well, but as soon as 70 arrives, pace drops off dramatically. good handling car, begs to be pushed. but not really a match for a well maintained Sport/GSi on the straights. oh and the interior is fucking shite.

I had a VTS and it was times better round the corners than my sport. Raced the odd VTR in my 1.6 sport and they seem to slightly pull away on the straights, my cars standard by the way.

I have driven both my mates vtr's and vts's, with the vts's being considerably quicker then the stock vtr.

handle very well IMO, my mate had his lowered 30mm all round and the handling was imensly improved.

Fair points, i agree with what most of you said, i was racing on a duel carriageway between roundabouts and could only get upto 80 ish before having to brake which is probably why i didnt pull away much ... Thanks for the comments !

I was saying that my 1.6 sport couldnt keep up with VTR's that I have raced. There wasnt much in it but its hardly that suprising as although I have a few more BHP the sport is heavier and will have less torque.

Exactly, 1.6 sport is about 10% heavier than a vtr

If you get one that has been looked after they are alright. I've driven a a VTR and VTS and was fairly impressed considering what people say about them.
