so, i am woken thismorning by my mother saying to me "your rear window seems to have gone"

obviously, i am stunned, and immediately think that she means its been smashed

but no......

the glass is still intact, and was resting conviniently in my neighbours lavender bush

they also seem to have carefully folded the rear bench down without damaging it

also. no damage to the tailgate area surrounding the window

all they have taken is the pioneer stereo, which would be worth about £12 second hand, they didnt even open the glove box, as i'm sure they would have taken the camera and PDA which i carelessly left there overnight

in taking my stereo, they stole the arctic monkeys album

and maybre damaged the dash, looking at that pic

and this is how they did it, stanley knife inb one corner of the window, then tore the rubber all the way round til the window popped out

have to say though, well done to them for causing me the least possible inconvinience by not damaging anything more than the rubber

considereate criminals, whatever next?

Buy a face off headunit next time!

Quite lucky that they were so considerate though although they shouldn't be breaking into cars in the 1st place

rang the police, they said "as the car isnt damaged, we wont be coming to look at it"

and i was like "WTF? the window has been removed in one piece, do you not think thats a bit strange?"

i left it in the car cos it is a crappy pioneer head unit, and i wasnt actually expecting anyone to remove the rear window to steal it

also, if i hadnt left it in there, i probably would have lost my camera and PDA now as well

Why go to all that effort for a stereo?! Surely if they had gained entry to the car, they'd have at least tried to take the car too? At least they dont appear to have done too much damage tbh (apart from the dash )

Robin, sorry to see that big guy.

It does seem that they went to an awful lot of trouble for what (going on what you have said) seems like a cheap headunit.

They obviously new what they were doing though, I mean, who carries a stanley knife aaround with them. I would see if anyone else has had their head unit stolen in a similar fashion around your area.

I would however suspect it was done by someone who is familiar with your car.

Schoey wasnt online last night either was he and I do believe he was in the Northampton area yesterday

jamie, when vaxuahll designed the rear widnow fixture on a nova they clearly forgot all about security. the window has no bond on it at all... its a very rubbish design.....
