im planning on buying a mk4 astra very soon, and was settled on the 1.8 sport model. just out of interest i got a quote on a 2.0 aswell...
1.8 Astra Sport - £1400 insurance quote
2.0 Astra (sri i think it was) £2300 insurance
now i know neither are exactly quick compared to 2.0 corsas, but ignore that for a minute.... is it worth paying so much extra for the 2.0 over the 1.8 or is there very little difference?? (i mean the non turbo 2.0 btw)
Thanks

Yip sris have everything.
The newer 1.8's are a better buy than the 2 litre.
Beats it to 60 afaik.

Need to make sure you get a later model 1.8 as the early ones had about 10bhp less IIRC

No, with the money you save from not buying a house you could buy an extra blanket.

Can't believe you'd even consider paying £2300 for an Astra!!! would have to be something very special for me to pay over a grand never mind that much, some people need their heads looking at

I'm not exactly sure TBH. I've tried looking at the model history on Parkers but it doesn't say. Be best to ask on astrasport. I'd imagine it would probably be around 51/02 plate

Seem to be a few around with the Irmscher kit on as standard. If it doesn't have it then theres usually pleny of Irmscher parts for sale at a reasonable price on ebay and on forum classifieds that wont cost alot to get fitted.

The kit as standard will be the pro drive kit, it was fitted to the sri turbos and as an optional extra on the sri 2.2.
I've just bought an astra coupe 1.8 which I pick up on Friday

The standard fit stuff he is talking about is the Irmscher front lip etc. not the pro drive one
