For those that own or have owned a GSi, what are your thoughts on the whole?
My next car is between a Leon Cupra R and Astra GSi but I don't think I can justify the extra money for the LCR.

I think they are a great car for the money. Alot of extras, as some other cars dont in the same price range, i.e traction, cruise control, leather, etc etc.
they are good on fuel, averageing 30mpg.
They are very tunable.
People say the handling isnt that good, but when i drove mine its really not that bad.
LCR are very nice tho

Andy I was just reading one of your posts when you said you were test driving a CTR, LCR and GSi. Did you ever do this?
I know I don't want a CTR but I really quite like the Leon, how much did you pay for yours if you dont mind me asking?
Cheers,
James

i did test drive a CTR, GSI, Leon, and a clio 182.
the Leon, i just didnt like the exterior look to them, compared to the GSi. Really nice powerfull cars tho.
the 182 is a very great handling car, with enough power. BUT just didnt feel much faster than the corsa IMO.
i never found a LCR to test drive, really wish i did find one tho, as alot of people say how nice they are.
i paid 11k for mine mate, i know its a bit high, but got 2 years manufactures warrenty with it, had all the extras, full leather, xenon lights, cd auto-changer etc. plus got them to re-furb all alloys, sort scratches out etc, so its in great condition.
hope this helps mate.

Civic Type R first choice.
LCR out of your list, then the Clio 182.

Dont want a Clio, too small.
CTRs are far too common and potray the wrong image IMO

Correct James. Its between a LCR and GSi. You need to drive both, weigh up the prons and cons, do you want 5-doors? Do you want to stay in the Vauxhall scene? Am I gay? Do I like bum sex?
You know that kind of thing?

I have recently bought a coupe turbo(same engine as gsi) and must say i love it, great power delivery, even in standard form, and good fuel economy too, combined 30mpg from 200bhp car is all good imo

I've got the GSi, and to be honest, looks wise I don't think the LCR is anywhere near as nice.
I haven't driven the LCR, so I can't comment on the performance, but I can say that my Astra has never disappointed as far as power is concerned.
Also, any excuse to post a picture...

I found that the seats were murder for the first couple of days when I first got mine. Spend ages adjusting them to get them comfy, but they are fine now.

Not driven any of the other rivals but mates got a 182 cup and that would rape me anyday, but i just didnt want french and i wanted to up size abit!
I couldnt be more happy with my GSi, its got the looks that makes heads turn but the right heads not chavs and kids people who know about cars!
the power is plenty enough for current roads but the release of extra power is so easy and relativly cheap!
The spec is great, leather, TC, air con, Cruise control, loads of airbags etc
