Nice work Rusty.
I think you did very well considering it was pitch black and getting misty.
Didn't even notice that the red thing had a flat tyre while we were there.
Bet he was chuffed when he came out and found that.
Oh, and FMIC eh. Hmm, interesting, am deffo in agreement with you there.
What's wrong with calling it a bloody intercooler?
Very strange terminology.
I would have thought that location was fairly academic when it comes to the basic term for a component.
You wouldn't call a sunroof a UBMSRA - Upper Body Mounted Solar Ray Aperture.
For the lazy among us, I would have thought that IC or I.C. would be better as there's less to type.
I mean, where else is going to be mounted, the ash tray?

Could be on top of the engine, or in the engine bay getting air from a wheelarch or something.

It wouldn't actually John.
That's the only place they were ever mounted.

I wasn't just talking about on fords.
The term fmic is a generic one for any type of car.

Indeed, but my point was that it is a silly and pointless abreviation, as the only place it could be on that car was behind the front bumper.
If the car in question was an Imprezza or an RS200 for example, the intercooler would be mounted above the engine, or at the back of the roof.
In either case, the term would be redundant.
Therefore, if the component is only ever mounted in one location on the vehicle in question, including an abreviating of it's location along with it's name is also redundant and therefore a bit silly.
Not having a go by the way.
Just trying to clarify my point without being rude or abrupt.

T'is a silly term FMIC. Vaux peeps seem to be the only ones that use it tho... As for the thingy infront of the 'FMIC', NOS cooling. Seen a couple of people using this lately but personally I cant really see the benefit in it. More of a show (oooh this is revolutionary (but not)) type thing I think.

because you get side mounted, top mounted and front mounted depending on the position in the engine bay.

RSOC meeting at the Heaves Hotel which is only 7 miles from my house at the start of next month. Always a good day out gawping at the anally clean Cossies also laughing at them when it rains and they have to start all over again chamoising them off etc.
