Thinking into getting one of the 1.8 gti Turbo 150.
Just like to know if anyone has ever driven one/or been in one?
Whats the performance like on them and reliability?

Also been told i could get one up to 200 bhp? from a re-map and exhaust.???

They do have their niggles (but don't all cars) but are very nice little cars, and are very well engineered and put together.

The 150PD feels quicker, and is more impressive and rewarding to drive than the petrol model, and obviously much better on fuel aswell.

In my experience, the MK IV is a far far superior car to it's predecessors, and (Robbo, look away now) is actually better than the MK V.

I worked on volkswagens for two years and apart from the V10 Toureg and W8 Passat, the only cars from their entire product history that I would ever consider owning are as follows in list of preference.

1) Golf MK IV V6 4Motion

2) Golf MK IV V5 Auto

3) Golf MK IV 150 PD

4) Golf MK IV 20v Turbo

if your viewing watch out for...

coils, misfiring, not idling etc

clutch pedal, sticking pedal coming back up means either slave or master cylinder gone (something i know plenty about )

door seals, something you might not be able to check if its not raining, but leaking door seals is a known fault and can be annoying if it happens to you.

Thanks about all i think think of really thats fault specific to them, just the other general things like excessive smoking due to worn turbo etc etc etc

My mates 150, only had it about a month

It sounds really nice. Its not blistering performance but theres more to come yet. The engine feels really smooth. Got coilovers on, full cat back system (cat replacement pipe coming soon), Audi 18s, bigger intercooler

Off for a remap next and think he is on about a bigger turbo too
