Has anyone got a pic of that yellow tag thing that comes out when a pre-tensioner has gone off ??? the only reason i'm asking is that i've seen a car and i can just see a yellow tag, however it isn't sticking out of the seat belt buckle itself, so i reckon it hasn't gone off...

cheers

Steve

It sticks right out level with where the belt clips in, yellow hard plastic tag with a big red warning triangle on it.

What does it mean? That the car's probably been in an acccident or something?

Shows that the pretensioner has fired, as it yanks the clip down, and the yellow tag punches out. Shows the car's been in a front end smash.

Cheers, but couldn't it just had been an emergency stop? Not necessarily a smash?

from what i gather the tag doesnt always get pushed out fully - as mine went off and it only stuck up about 10mm!

It fires in a crash afaik, not just when the belt pulls against it?

Sounds like the little flap that covers it has cracked open. Is it the same on both sides?

nah, jus the passenger. I've given the car a good check over and there are no obvious indications of a crash. Theres no welding, or new paint and the boot floor isn't creased. I've just got a mate to do a HPI check for me and its come out clean, so my minds at rest now !!!

A few years ago I drove past a group of young kids and they all threw snowballs at my car and it caused the seatbelt pre-tensioner to go off

I think it cost me £50 to get sorted before its MOT.

Pre tensioner doesn't matter for MOT.

Sensors? They are mechanical in a Corsa. But you would have to brake bloody hard for them to go off. In fact, I doubt brakes could ever create the same decelaration forces as a crash would...

Mine passed one with two blown tensioners, so long as the catch engages securely it's ok. Recommended fix anyway.
