further to the exedy clutch and lightened flywheel thread i decided to attempt a 6k launch. Ive only had the impreza about a month or so, in case you are wondering why i havent attempted this before.
well nice bit of quiet straight road in the sticks, blipping the revs to around 5.5-6k, little bit of clutch up trying to get some turbo spool as it only spools under load. anyway unleash the clutch and plant foot at 6k rpm, the car lurches forwards and 0-40 seems to happen in a couple of seconds if that.
The torque actually caused my passenger floor mat to fold over and bend in half, and its quite a heavy mat. i saw it in corner of my eye and thought a piece of dash had fallen off
Only a little bit of clutch stink, well chuffed with the launch would have been a good standing 1/4 i reckon!
if anyones wondering why im posting this then go and drive an impreza and see how hard it is! It either bogs down as all the wheels grip or you anhiliate your drive train
Still think i could launch a FWD faster, need to practice before i make a fool of myself on the 1/4 this summer.

i could never launch my STi 4, it would either bog down and grip to buggery and not go anywhere as no turbo spool or the back end would fly out. rear diff failed a few weeks later so i guess this could have been causing the back end problem.
But yes these cars are perfectly capable of low 4.0`s 0-60`s but you have to have the skill to get a bloody good launch to do it.

seems to be the only way, some guy once said to me when he saw my car on driveway that "if you want to have a play wait for damp roads as its easier on the drivetrain", I initially thought wtf you on about, but can see his point tbh now.

Id imagine if i tried a 6k launch in the calibra, it would just tell me to fuck off, then proceed to piss TXB oil/PAS fluid all over the tarmac

So basically launching at 6k is kinda pointless? I just can't see 6k launches being benifical for the times...or your clutch for that matter

No, you scrub 2k off just from the load up so when you actually start moving your only actually doing about 4k - which is full boost on most IHI standard turbos!
