- wash car down with water start lowest/underside first then work up
- then wash with watever it is u use... i have autoglym body conditioner stuff (dont use fairy liquid )
- wash alloys and everything else while your there....
- rinse it all down
- chamois it off
- apply wheel care/bumper care
- then use ure wax on it but ground ure vehicle if u wanna be extra special
- buff your wax out and go over all the cracks .etc
- clean out inside your car and wipe down door/boot sills
theres lots of other things u cud do in between those steps but generally thats it

whats the reason for that?
some say wash from top down, so you not rinsing dirt over something you already rinsed

i just get the majority of the bulk off first i find if u wash the bottom area's it shifts most then when u go above it to the top it'll send even more watter down the vehicle shifting any remaining dirt .etc

If I am giving my car the full works:
- pressure wash car over with cold water to remove grit and wash inside of arches out and underneath the car
- wash car using a wash mitt
- chamois dry
- wash wheels
- chamois wheels dry
- apply bodywork polish (out of direct sunlight)
- apply glass polish to all windows and headlights and tail lights
- apply polish to wheels
- metal polish on exhaust
- buff off polish from all surfaces (I use a different cloth to apply and take off the different types of polish on glass and bodywork)
- use finishing cloth to take off any residue or dust left over from the polish
- stand back and admire my handy work

Rinse (Using Power Washer)
Hand Wash (Using Megs Nxt Gen Shampoo & Wash Mitt)
Wheels washed (Using Megs Hot Wheels Cleaner)
Dryed (Using AutoGlym Aqua Dry)
Clayed (Using Megs Quik Detailer Kit)
Dryed (Using AutoGlym Aqua Dry)
AutoGlym Paint Renovator
AutoGlym Super Resin Polish
Megs Nxt Gen Wax
AutoGlym Tyre Shine
That was my routine on monday. Once you've got a decent finished you don't need to Renovate the paint, just use a light abrasive polish and high quality wax to keep it shining.

any paint renovator or tar remover obviously used before polishing or waxing.
also forgot - tyre shine gets put on before I polish the wheels otherwise it gets sprayed all over my freshly polished wheels and I end up doing them again anyway

shamois all dry
wax it all
then polish it all
do wheels tyres with tyre shine
polish exhaust with metal polish
give inside a hoover
wipe down dash
clean all viynl
stick in a magic tree
this happens once every wee while

Drive to petrol station
Pay 'Ray' £3.80
Get token
Drive upto carwash
Put in your token
Drive into carwash
Sit for a few minutes listening to your choice of music
Wait for wash to finish
Drive out
Go to pub and think about the time and effort you have saved yourself
