Bought from Ebay for a monkey....paying in cash on collection, not inspected the car yet. What should I look for when I inspect it (bar the obvious 'underneath', back wiper, under windscreen rust checks)?

Some other details;

- Vauxhall Corsa L Plate (1993) 8v 1.4 SRi in black
- 105000 miles
- Some keying to (luckily) most panels that can be replaced ie. doors, hatch, bonnet, rest of car appears fine (at least in the detailed pics)
- All standard SRi, including wheels (one cap is missing but they'll be going anyway).
- spoiler missing
- 11 mths MOT

I'm not too put out by that, seen them go for a lot more. Looking for a project car basically that I can tart up. Gave up on my Fezzie.

Any info appreciated before I commit this Sunday.

havent you already committed by buying it in the first place, you bid to buy, not look?

I wouldnt say there is anything specific to look out for on this car, its a 13yr old corsa so bound to have a few problems. I would take expansion tank cap off and have a look for mayo. take her for a drive and do a few lock to lock turns listening out for clunking, see that she drives straight and doesnt pull to one side.

go through the documentation with a fine tooth comb.

You've already commited. The only way you can really get out of it now is if the car isn't as described.

Well if she don't drive well she won't be as described lol!

Not expecting a new car just thought I'd ask some people with a bit more experience with Vauxhalls.

Ma SRI has a spoiler as did my SXI???? surly if they were takin it off it would leave marks?? y take it off anyway a think the wee spoilers are nice!!

and that one i got off you only lasted 8 weeks before it started smoking so I sold the car

Like people have said check the b-pillars for cracks as there common on that age car and check the oil isnt like mayo.

The obvious things like for rot, especially underneath! Also headgasket, take oil cap off and stick your finger and scrape alongside the inside of the engine, any white bits then this is sign the head is prob on its way out

Dunno why the spoiler is missing but I want one with brakelight led anyway, £65 Ebay....the car will be off the road for a bit while I do some work to her anyway

make sure its a good fit non gm ones tend to fit crap
