round a proper track. mixture of straights and bends, like croft.
230 bhp scooby estate with standard brakes and suspension etc
170 bhp 1.6 16v corsa on bilstein tarmac rally spec suspension, 4 pots, stripped, decent tyres,

Neither would overtake the other IMO
A similar arguement to a 420 porker vs a 265 Exige I posted earlier

I voted before reading.
I was thinking a 300 ish bhp scoooby = Kill corsa.
but a 230 bhp Estate is gonna be a bit of a barge, so corsa may kill it

the scooby would have the torque/power advantage on the straights and the corsa would have the brakes/suspension set up to eat it in the corners would be a good match I think

the corsa should kill it on the straights.... the 4x4 may have more balls round the bends...
AS EVER....
all down to the driver

If they were both equally matched average joe drivers (for the sake of argument) then the Scooby is surely going to be easier to get the most out of so therefore be quicker?

scooby you fcuking idiots. it has Łks worth of design around rally car heritage put into its handling and chassis, not a shopping car with a suspension kit on

The scooby will out handle the Corsa, but its at a weight disadvantage.

I would say if I did a lap in the Corsa and a lap in the Scooby I would do a better time in the Scooby.
Can imagine it would be harder to get the best out of the Corsa as like said above its not been designed for this purpose.

how many folk have driven both?!
a properly setup corsa is NOT crap round a track....
a std impreza estate is NOT a rally car, or ideal for track!
A 160bhp 2.0 corsa can pass a UK impreza wagon 220bhp or so with not much of a fight on a straight....

corsa will kill it, probably down the straights a good match, but through the corners corsa would p*ss all over it!! without a doubt!!
