The £550 price tag includes 3 games. Play.com are doing the usual rip off bundles when a new console is released

@ paying that much when you know they will be half the price in a year and you know that your mate whos rich will buy one anyway and let you borrow it after two weeks because he is bored of it because he only bought it to boast about.
Sorry bit of a rant.

How ever much I want one on 17th Nov I won't be paying that!
Register a few months ago said the console will cost around £399.99 when it his the uk.
If that comes with the 60gb HDD which looks like all UK PS3's will do and a few games I may splash out for one.
Sold the PS2 Slimline while it was worth something still ready for the PS3 and i miss my PS2 already
Roll on November and a MUCH lower price
Need to keep an eye on this for the latest pre-order prices:

It's not that expensive for the kit you are getting.
The bundles are a joke though.
Thats mnouch over 400 without the games.

fanboy
id take a game i alctually enjoy playing, over a game that is simply pretty but with no playability, every time.
not even taken into account the fact the system is likely to cost a hell of a lot more.

I'm not a fanboy lol.
I'm actually quite interested in the wii and might actually buy one.
Its a totally different experience from the 360 and ps3 though so I woudln't really compare them.

Fair enough if you want to say the 360 is better but can you justify how?
Better in what way?

well....read about all the problems with development gear and the ram there using and the graphic processor - apparently it struggles to push out half the power the powerVR processors and GPU the 360 has.
Sony have well and truely shot themselves in the foot with the PS3 - taken far too long to come up with anything and even when they have, its behind a console that will have been out nearly a year beforehand
like you say, wait until....march is it? (Christ, i could have built myself something in the time they've taken ) and then you can compare, but so far it isnt looking good, especially as the games for the 360 are only using one of the powerVR cores (so shite load of power still in reserve)

seen bits of it, didnt really say a lot tbh - new reports from recent hardware tests and game development gear, as well as reports for game designers/programmers etc say they are far off from anything complete and the current hardware isnt something sony can market.
There was a report on the www.theinquirer.net a few days ago about a test with the current memory system in place - some nice piccys too
p.s - also, didnt they run all of the demos at E3 on a bodged PS2/PC?

The ps3 will come with a ps2 inside.
The ps2 originally had a ps1 inside.
This is to get the console out the door while they haven't got the emulation software running properly.
Later on they take these parts out and it reduces the manufacturuing cost.
The kits they were using at e3 probably did have a ps2 and some sort of pc using either an early cell chip or something similar.
