Stay in a hotel the night before you nutter! Plenty of cheap hotels in the area, not necessarily the Alton Towers hotel, thats expensive.

ah must of just been the crazy CS convoy route.
I went west from where I live, met CS members there, then went up north and across west to the west coast. Then right up to Alton Towers area and then back across to it.
Probably why it seemed so long.

We drove down from Dunfermline, its an easy drive like. We stayed in the travel lodge next to Stoke F.C.
We made it down in well less than 5 hours.

i live west london, and i drove upto Lancaster!!! which is about an hour further than alton towers!!!!!
took about 3-4 hours to get to lancaster, but we had a Tomtom 300 sat nav!! what a beauty of a device, we made no wrong turns or mistakes what so ever!!
if you can get hold of one or even borrow one i would highly recommend it as it was a mission getting their!
if not then google maps is excellent for directions and satelite pics and route maps!!
