Been planning on building a pond for ages in the garden at home and finally got round to making a start today. Forgot to get a proper "before" picture to comapre it to, it was all overgrown and generally shitty, moved loads of soil and cleared all the plants out the way, also knocked the old wall down with the help of my trusty sledge hammer (so much fun ) ready to build a new wall there. Its not a huge project but should look quite nice when done, me and my best mate are doing all the work ourselves so cant wait to sit back and see the results when its done
Made a huge mess so far but its great fun, despite constant breaks due to heat exhaustion
Digging down the middle bit about 1 1/2 foot then building up the wall around the outside to make it deep enough, my sister is having a kid soon too so we thought a wall around it will be a good idea on top of a mesh, plus it means less digging in the heat )
Also got my dog buster helping out
Gonna build the wall up tomorrow and put the electrics in place, will get some more progress pics if anyone is interested

Went to the builders merchants and chose all the materials, took as much back in the boot of the escort as we could (old skool low rider on the way back ), this is rough idea of how it will look.
Took ages making the foundations and getting the first layer all level etc...
Then started on the retaining wall of concrete blocks which are being tied in to the facing wall, and we are gonna fill in with concrete between the two.
And my dog buster again, guarding the sand bags
Hard days work!

Nice going fella, here's some pics of mine if you want some inspiration on plants to go round it etc, I manually dug this out, 7ft deep in middle with a concrete plate underneath to hold the weight of everything.
