Won't beleive it till it's 100% but even so, still exciting times!
The stadium will be a 22,000 all seater stadium costing £25m.
"Southend Utd's ground will be constructed by HOK Sport who were reponsible for building Arsenal's new Emirates Stadium"

Thats what I thought but then I read this.....
"Southend's ground will be constructed by HOK Sport, who were responsible for building Arsenal's new Emirates Stadium, the new Wembley Stadium, Wimbledon's Centre Court and Sydney's Telstra Stadium, which hosted the 2000 Olympics..."

I quite like Lutons ground for some reason
Makes a change from all the Lego Stadiums that are appearing up and down the country, least it has a bit of character.

I remember years ago at Roots Hall watching Burnley, some old bloke lost his rag and climbed the fence to shout at the ref. However he missed the ''non drying paint'' signs and then wondered why he had Blue paint allover his new yellow away shirt allover hands etc

REAL football fans do. When we played Liverpool in the FA Cup alot of them were saying how they'd rather visit stadiums with character and history like ours then shitty soul-less bowl stadiums like Readings/Southamptons/Leicesters/Hull...... etc.
I love Kenilworth Road and i'd rather stay put then move into a crappy bowl stadium. All new stadiums, bar Arsenals and Man Citys, are shit and look the same.

This is why I like Turf Moor. Two modern big stands, really nice gym/resturant round the back and two 1960/70 stands with original seats. Still has character
Plans to pull down away end behind goal and replace with a large stand/hotel similar to the current two
