Obviously being a corsa forum, biased mainly towards vauxhall's ive got a fair idea of what i expect people's answers to be, but id just like to know people's thoughts.

Please no arguements, just want to know your take on what the definitive hot hatches of the last 25 years have been Im talking in terms of obvious aspects such as handling, speed, engineering etc, and less obvious characteristics such as inginuity, and the pioneers!

also im talking about standard factory fresh cars, no modified or tuned cars, although those of you that want to can make their case for XE corsas providing its suitably objective

either way, make your cases and let me know what you think

im going with:
1) Renaultsport clio (172 cup, 182, trophy)
2) Renault Clio Williams
3) Peugeot 205 GTi
4) Peugeot 106 GTi/ Citroen Saxo VTS
5) Volkswagen Golf GTi

renault 5 gtt
vw golf gti mk1
astra mk1
astra mk2
pug 205 gti 1.9

cant really see any of the newer generations of hot hatches still being around in the next 10-20 years so dont think they are worthy of being classed as definitive
