To cut the story short.

Ive seen a house i would like, i have an appointment down at bank tomorrow to see about getting one. What type of things should i ask?

also the tricky bit is i got made redundant last week as the firm went under. I have worked there for four years and am an electrician, so technically i am unemployed. although i start a job in two weeks.

where do i stand ? you reckon they will tell me to get fucked?

Not to be funny but you will probably get a more educated answer than on here, unless we have a mortgage expert of course.

i aint a member on a mortgage forum. I cant be arsed searching the web for one and joining up. Although i am a member on here and maybe someone has been in this situation

If you think getting a new job wont be any trouble (which if your a certified sparky it shouldnt be) dont tell them....if its your bank (you get paid into) they will see you have a steady income when they pull up your file & all will be fine, else take your last 3 wage slips with you.

You would probably get a better deal through a independant advisor than you will the bank.

dont tell them? cant they find out? I have a decent amount for a deposit and enough to carry me over for a while. I go away on sunday for 4 days and touch wood will have a job when i get back.

I wouldnt tell them, if you do I cant see them giving you an offer on principle!!

All there after is proof you have been earning a steady income. I dont think they have any way of finding out!!

Bank will offer 95% max survey value so make sure you go in knowing what its worth & what you want to offer!!

TBH,

It's probably the single most important decision you are going to make in life.

Perhaps you should be 'arsed' a little more

I wouldn't get a mortgage from a bank though, better deals elsewhere I would imagine

think you will find quite a few homeowners on here, many of which have recently acquired mortgages so will probably be better placed to provide info.

Its not quite as simple as going and asking for a mortgage, they'll go through your employment records etc etc. The fact you dont have a job regardless of whether you start a new one in 2 weeks will almost certainly see you being told to come back in a few weeks/months

you could get a self certified mortgage. say your employed earning x amount. bank wont check. your generally need at least 10% deposit

look at bristol and west online they list there mortgages there.

are you applying for the mortgage or just getting a quote?

If just a quote doubt they don't need proof of income just amount you are earning, and time at job. they will probably just say you have already started for purposes of quotation I would guess

I went down today. Did not tell them. They give me a certificate saying i can have the money. Also as its a repo hous i can have it straight away. All good so far

You wont be able to get a mortgage untill you are in full time employment

Lie, and you may not get caught but if u do u could get into trouble like Cosmo has said.

I went to a few independent advisors to see what mortgage deals i could get, funnily enough the best ones werent banks! I ended up going via the mortgage advisor from the estate agents (to my surprise )

Have you looked into the mortgages available on the marker? EG - Repayment, interest only etc if not you need to, figure out exactly what u want, but be willing to take on board advice

Talk to your parents, as they will be clued up on it as well. Talk to friends, ask them if any of them recently bought a house and the ones who have ask them what mortgage advisor they used

Decide on a budget, DO NOT go over your budget. You need to allow for mortgage payment, council tax, gas, leccy, tv license, life assurance, house insurance, car insurance, water rates, internet bill, home phone bill, mobile bill, loans/credit cards etc (which i reccommend clearing if you can before entering a mortgage)

I know you've already been but jst in case u may have forgotten.

Dont forget your solicitors fees etc, deposit, and your first mortgag repayment will be more than it usually is, your advisor will explain why as i will only confuse you.

From my experience, i have learnt, dont be afraid to ask lots of questions and be 100% happy with the answers you get. I had a few probs when buying so had to chase my solicitors alot... which worked for me as in the end they were updating me every day which is what i wanted

Buying a house is pretty stressful but well worth it IMO.

Ok as the house is repo`d its cheap. The problem i am having is.

The estate agent is fucking me around. All offers have to be in writing by thursday next week. Although the recievers are saying they aint letting you look around it again, which obviously i need to. Thing is if they say yes how soon can i get a valuer to come? and will also prob need checks , how long does this take?

Ask the estate agents, u need to have searches done on it as well, survey and valuer i had from my mortgage company

Why cant u look round again ???
