Well I downloaded Vista from my MSDN account and the way it works is there just one version and the product key you enter determines which version installs, the only product key that was available to me on MSDN was the ultimate one

The copy I have entering the key is the first thing it requested - then it gave you the option of all the 32-bit/64-bit version of vista to install

its for more advanced hoome users, that may be on a domain etc, if you wanted to join your pc to a domain at home for example but still wanted media centre ultimate would be the one

Will be a long wait
I only have 1gb of RAM, I have been told this will mean Vista will run like a dog, is this true?

No, I was running it on 512 on my pc and a gig on the laptop.
Been using the laptop for about a week now and its been running fine.
No speed issues at all.

10 out of 10 to Microsoft for trying.
Did the final installation step and the final restart and got the blue screen of death and wont boot up
Had to restore XP.
I ran the compatibility checker before as well - strange
