im currently rebuilding another c20xe for my car which has only 79k miles on it.

i have been slowly taking the engine apart while i save up for the rebuild parts.

i will be using my cylinder head off my current engine because it is a coscast head so will rebuild this head.

i am currently cleaning up the engine block and removing the old manky paint before i repaint it. atm im not too sure what color im going to paint it altho i have been thinking about white lol

new engine will be rebuilt with fast road cams, arp rod bolts, balanced bottom end, lightened flywheel, honda fireblade carbs and uprated clutch

will update this as and wen i get bits done

cheers for reading

james

im doing a complete rebuild. big end and main journel shells, piston rings, arp rod bolts, sump gasket, oil pump, water pump, headgasket, valve stem seals, rocker gasket, inlet and exhaust gaskets etc etc. you get the idea

having a custom inlet manifold made up for the carbs and also a custom sealed airbox made from alu that goes to both cold airfeeds in headlights (one each side of engine) and battery is being moved to the boot

i havent really bugeted nething to be honest. i have the carbs already, a friend is making the inlet and airbox, its £300 for all the rebuild parts excluding the oil
pump, £50 for arp rod bolts, local race engineers are reprofiling my spare cams for £65 per cam, and they are also lightening my flywheel and balancing the bottom end. i was thinking about getting some head work carried out but im not too sure atm.

suppose all in im looking at about £1000 finished.

tonights progress is that ive been giving the block a really good clean and removing whats left of all the old gaskets. i will finish this off tomorrow night and mayb speed to jez at carrera bodyworks about getting the block sprayed and laqured.

the cambelt cover and rocker cover will be the ones that are on the car atm unless i change my plans and im looking into getting a chrome oilcap to go with my spark plug cover that is getting polished atm

tonights update. managed to get further tonight than i expected! i found a pot of blue paint left from my bothers engine when we rebuilt that so decided to use that rather than buying another tin.

firstly i got out the drill and a wire brush attachment for it and got cleaning off all the dirt and flacky paint. i then used paint thinners to degrease and clean the block.

next stage was to get the paint on - this is the 1st coat and i will give it another coat tomorrow nite.

the paint isn't quite that bright lol
