Got a new tank, its a fair bit bigger than my old tank. Its alot deeper so gives me the room I wanted to make a nice rock stack...

1st I put in all the Ocean rock I had at the time (25kg)

Then decided this wasn't enough to make a good display and there weren't enough hiding places for my liking. So I bought another 15kg. Oh and some more fish! Bought 2 more Red Zebra but they are a bit more grown up than the 2 I allready had. Also bought 2 Labidochromis sp. "Hongi". They are big buggers!
The water is cloudy in some of the pics as everything was still settling down. Was crystal clear as of yesterday though.

"Hongi"

The things that are hanging in the water are my established filters from my old tank. Gonna leave them in there for a week or so to help establish the new filter.

Cost you a lot of money. They are salt water fish.

They had one in the local watergarden place, I saw it was £100 for the fish alone, not looked into it any more yet. What sorta price difference is there between salt and freshwater? Gonna have to do some proper investigation over xmas!

Well those 2 Hongi's of mine cost £9 each. And the Red Zebra's were £6 each. So Marine is alot more expensive than freshwater!

It's not just the fish, it's the setting up.

You need special filters, salts and skimmers. I looked into it a while ago. It was too expensive.

One of the Hongi is going to be moved out of the tank into my old tank temporarily as he is a little shit. Then will see if I can get the LFS to take him back. Failing that I'll have to see if I can find someone to buy him!

He is a nasty piece of work!!!

& water is ALOT clearer now...

No no no no no. They would rip them to shreds and clog up my filters... they are very destructive.

I quite like just the rock TBH. Its the sort of scene you would find in the lakes that they come from. Cuts down on maintenance aswell

Iknow what you mean about maintennance. I took a load of plants out of mine. The roots were massive, it took out half my stone with it

I just cant be arsed with plants TBH

I'm going to be setting up another small tank (about 4-5 gallons) sometime in the next couple of weeks just to have some tetra's and maybe a fighting fish in. That'll have one or 2 plants and some moss in it.

I've moved the nasty Hongi into a seperate tank at the moment as he has bitten the other one to buggery. Going to see if the fish shop will have him back this weekend... had to take 90% of the rock out to catch him

Nothing wrong with the Juwel filters IMO. You just need to keep the cotton changed quite often.

Why don't use them?

I dont rate the Juwel filters either. After moving to an Eheim external its so much better. The water is LOADS clearer than it ever was with my Juwel internal filter. Also means I dont have a filter taking up space in the tank.

I managed to take the nasty Hongi back to the shop yesterday. Swapped it for a pink Zebra and a dark blue zebra.

Next malawi I get aren't going to be Zebra's as I have 6 of them now Need something different. Maybe yellow labs.

Rocks are stacked differently aswell since I had to take most of them out to catch that fish...
