After looking at an Astra VXR...I decided sense must prevail as I am looking at buying a house around May next year...so...I decided to go down the CDTI route...a mate of my dads is a general manager of a Vauxhall dealership not far from me so got myself down there to see what they have on offer...just bought an 06 reg ex demonstrator 1.9 CDTI (120PS) SRI with the exterior pack and 18" 5 spokes...there was a set of ordinary SRI wheels on but I wanted the upgrade to 18's so he upgraded them for nothing AND is letting me keep the original 16" wheels that are on it has done a touch over 6000 miles and is in star silver...same as the one below:
Now for the best bit...he sold me it for a grand total of: £9999
Pick it up next week sometime...

Yeah 5 door...
I was going to buy the same car but 3 door sports hatch but with the partners discount it was still 15k new...
And with a 5k saving I can live with the 5 doors...
Gonna look into the remap once I get it...but dont wanna invalidate the warranty...so might leave it for a while...
Any details though?

Tell me about it...nearly fell on the floor when he told me what he would do it for me for...
Said he basically wants his money back on it..not making a single penny on me...an with the free upgrade wheels thrown in....and keeping the original set which I will sell...as they have covered 6k and the tyres are like new...
The indicator stalks impressed me...none of this click on business...you tap then once down and they stay on...no clicking....

VXR performance centre/888 do remaps. Think they are the same maps they give the 888 CDTi's. It might not invalidate the warranty either if its done through them?

Those stalks will piss you off if they're like the vectra, when you can't cancel them

Cant see them honouring the warranty if you change it from manufacturers spec...
Something to think about next year anyway...

The indicator stalks are terrible I have to admit, but obviously you will get use to them after time.

Well I have just checked AT and you cant even buy one private for anywhere near that...
Add to that the free £800 wheel upgrade I got...its getting fully valeted and serviced before I pick it up and I now have a set of as new 16" SRI alloys and tyres to sell which must be worth £450+ all day...
Pays to no someone in the motor trade definately...

I like the 5 doors - my mate (was 18 at the time) had a 2.0 turbo 5 door, went like stink (admiteddly it was in his mums name and he was on the insurance).
Anyway, looks like you definitely got a bargain! Getting remapped at VXR performance/888 might not invalidate warranty either. I'd stick with it as it is imo, shouldn't be too slow...

I do like the look of the five door even though I originally wanted a 3 door...
I just couldnt face paying an extra 5k just for the 3 door option thats all...

Why though?
Not a thing wrong and the balance of the warranty remains..
