Right before i start i love me lickle sport 1.4, but yesterday got the christmas day boredem and set out with mate for a gud old blast round with the new motor baring in mind my mate has a renault 5 this was gonna be a laff...now the car is just as fast (crazy!) but when it came to corners/roundabout...I cud have died! when i brake the car shuffles with lose of traction and slides everywhere...
How can i inprove the handling???
thought about wheel spacers but it aint possible as the wheels will prob hit arches...even though they are 15s, so was think of lowering...but this will invovle different alloys or arch modification...so not sure wot to do.
Ive also heard great things about viper kits...wheres cheapest places for these or sumwhere i can get discount by bein a member on here???
wud like to sort these handling problem out to make the drive more comfortable on corners...
oh and it aint just when im going fast even a roundabout at 20 feels nasty
Merry Christmas guys...just been down the dogs and won me £35

Whats wheels suspension are on it?
Strut Braces arent expensive and should make a slight differenence. And Coilovers and decent tyres will make the most difference.

holds the sturts tighter together so greatly reduces chassis flex. A gsi anti roll bar might also be an option.

It will already have an anti roll bar on it with it being a Sport.
A cheap option will be to buy a set of lowering springs. Set of 4 will set you back about £80 but you will lose ride quality. A full suspension setup is the best way to go but will set you back quite a bit more.

if i have a corsa gsi, and its lowered 40mm, will a front strut brace do wonders or just a slight/no difference?

lower it and fit uprated dampers, biggest improvement per pound you will see. Strut brace wont give a noticeable difference in handling.

wheel bearings.
mine went on the back of my nova, and it was almost impossible to go round a corner without feeling like it was going to fall off the road.
check them, make sure they're ok.
then get some Konis/Bilsteins.
what offset are the wheels?

dont think its the wheels bearings but i can check as im spraying up the rear brakes maybe this weekend if i get time. It's abit tragic that handlings so poor...but then again clio sports (1.4) hate it just for the straights haha! Heard koni are crap...well heard alot about leaks....was thinking of gmax if i get it lowered

My Koni's never leaked, and my GMax on the Nova were nowhere near as good as the Konis.

as far as im aware gamx are best for a budget, ive got a second hand 60mm gmax kit on my corsa and ive got no complaints. i think koni are better but dearer, my dads got a koni kit on his scooby.
if you lower your car you will notice the difference in the handling, do it do it!

which yokohamas? A539? what the weather damp? wet?
this will explain a lot.
btw, lowering will add to better handling
best budget would be a spax kit imo

I same the same tyres, and they are not good at all in the wet/damp conditions (my experience). They are great in summer, that's it. your problem lies partly on the tyres imo
but lowering will definitely make a difference

i had these wheels, but had them changed before lowering. The offset is et38 iirc. I wanted to be on the safe side and had them changed to et42 (tsw pace) and finally to the current speedlines (et45)
I'm lowered 50mm and never had any scrubbage at all even with the et42 and with people in the back.
PS: mine are 195/45/15. not 50 profile. I guess you would need to change these too
