Should be able to, I'm in no rush, and I'd have quite a substantial budget, so I'd get the best I could afford.
Thing is, I'd want a white, silver or grey one, and they seem to be far less common

Can't afford one Steve, EK9 Type Rs are still gonna be 8k in June, which I won't have.
I could get an EK4 VTi, but it's still hard to find one, they're more money, and cost more to insure
and it won't look right with silly wheels, but an EG will

I love them, i have a white one as a project, aftermarket parts are endless
oh a white vti (eg6) are very rare & they end up going for the same prices as ek's

ah, maybe I'd have to get a smaller engined one then
shame really, I would have liked to have a quick-ish model to start with, without messing about with engines

esi's have 125bhp, which aren't slow and are best engines if you want to turbo (like me) they can take 220bhp without any internal work

yeah they are, people even choose sohc's over the dohc's
basically;
sohc - D series
dohc - B series
lsi's are sohc, some come with vtec, about 95ish bhp the ones without vtec
esi engine spares are soo much cheaper & common than dohc's aswell

right, so as I plan to mod one, probably a fair bit of engine work, and esi would actually be a better bet, and cost less?
Gez, they're the wheels I'd get if I find a white one

depends which route you want to go? NA or FI? obviously you get more bang for buck if turbo'd
if you go for a esi then turbo would be best & you can turbo it & be on the road for approx £700
For referance, a mate has one with 218bhp(stock internals) and ran 1/4 mile in 13.6, now with upgraded pistons & rods & more boost(approx 280bhp) he runs a time of 12.9
