Vaux say its ready to go, but needs tax. I just want to double check before I get excited that it is possible to go up and pay for the car tomorrow and then and get a revised insurance certificate faxed over to the dealership for the tax?

Infact, I'd check up about the fax.. I'm sure I've had trouble with that in the past. Something about the post office not accepting a fax, but they'll accept a cover note (which normally comes next day anyway)

I'm not getting to excited until the car is driven away from the dealership and sitting in the Grasshopper car park whilst I'm eating steak.

Is there no way that the garage can tax it for you before you're name goes on the V5?

IIRC, its a faxed one (to the dealership) if you're just picking the car up, but a cover note if you're taxing it.

Yeah Rach just spoke to them, Diamond won't guarentee getting the insurance certificate out to us tomorrow, so we are going to have to get Vauxhall insurance to tax it tomorrow and drive it away from the forecourt, then when we are home cancel it and unfreeze the diamond policy

What a fcuking rigmaroll.

but atleast you can have it tomorrow with the rigmaroll, rather than picking it up on Monday following a sleepless weekend!

Please make sure you post pics! (and treat us to some of Rach too! )

Yeah, thats why we have to get Vaux insurance as Vaux insurance can e-mail a covernote over to the dealers then tax it that way, but its a 7 day cover thing, prob end up costing us £100 for 2 hours cover

I suppose waiting until Monday would have had the advantage of saving you about £60 in fuel!

Can't Diamond email the cover note for you?
I think there's a gap in the market here.. maybe someone should introduce an insurance company that will tax the car for you
