a friend is looking for a new company car. budget is £15k fixed. they will not budge on that.
needs to be fairly rapid, but also fairly economical.
focus is a no go because he doesn't like the seats
corolla is no-go because that was his last one
renaults are no-go because he used to have a clio that had aids
new civic was the preferred choice, but a decent spec one is £300 over budget, and he doesn't wan't to compromise on spec like wheels.
any suggestions welcome, cheers

Spend the extra £300 for the Civic?
New Astra of some sort surely.
Yes Corsa VXR but won't be too economical I shouldn't think.
Are we steering clear of French & Italian muck?
He could get a base spec (1.6 S) Volvo C30 with £250 change.

company wont move on the budget, and there's no option to make up the difference.
That rules out the corsa vxr and astra turbo.
i like the idea of a leon, but not sure what he'll say. will see what sort of spec you can get for the money and suggest it.
freanch and italian not essentially a problem, but no renaults. i quite like the C4 1.4 turbo, but not too sure what he'll say.
c30's are nice, but he think's they are fugly and the budget wouldn't get a particularly great one.
he'l say mini is too girly for sure, despite them being great cars.
golf's are an option as are some of the astras. he's just got an astra hire car, so time will tell what he thinks of that.
cheers for input, but keep em coming if you have further ideas.

second hand is out of the question.
will look into saloons a bit further like vectra and passat, but i think a hatchback would suffice, and you'll probably get more for the money.

shame the price isnt £17 as the new mazda3 mps is coming into our work end of the month. been out in one (the only one in the uk atm) and its stupidly quick!
2.3 16v turbo, 260bhp, FWD, electronic LSD, unlimited. press took it to 168mph before they backed off lol

IIRC the Fabia vRS kept up with a Cooper S on the Top Gear track.
