yes they play normal DVDs.
Depends on what title you buy really, you can get HD DVDs for around £8 - 10 but new ones will set you back around £20
|

hmmm, wonder if appollo/blockbuster etc will be renting hd's anytime soon
(i watched a bit of SWAT on a blu-ray in dixon's the other day. it was immense)

Even if the Hd dvd dosent play normal DVD's (which i am guessing it does) the normal disk tray on your 360 will.
Blockbuster will rent them bet they will be steep though

good point my dvd knackered other day so used xbox. it's ALOT quieter playing dvd's than when it plays games

im desperate to see what these blu ray and hd dvd movies look like. if you were impressed with blu ray then you will be equally impressed with hd dvd 
for 110 quid from virgin thats a bargain

yeh the blu-ray was on a 32" samsung lcd and was crisp as fook. could really see the difference.

the 360 HD DVD player is a good (and cheap) way to get into the HD scene. The reviews it's been getting are quite promising and people are saying it's a good little player and does the job. For just over £100 you can't argue.

I think if you already have an HDTV and a 360 then the HD DVD player is a good way to get into HD without spending shit loads it's what I will be doing.
