I'm looking for a few suggestions to hamper thieving little scumbags in their attempts to pinch a corsa.

My girlfriend's cousin had his door bent back last night and is now panicking that the car is going to be targeted again.

Basically I'm looking for suggestions on cheap and effective ways of stopping the little cunts getting away with the car.
He's on a tight budget.

For reference the car is a pre facelift 1.4 sport. That purple colour incase anyone has a spare drivers door they want rid of

So far my suggestion is a snap off steering wheel.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

There is a thing you can try called an alarm, they are regularly used and tend to be effective.

Just do everything you can if you don't have a removable steering wheel. Decent alarm, dead locks and a steering wheel lock thing - better still, get a steering wheel one then handbrake to gear stick.

Well aren't you the forum comedian.
As said he hasn't got a big budget, he has a wife and kid to support, plus is expecting another child. Money is tight and he needs a cheap and effective option, as I originally stated.

So please do me a favour and take your wisecracks elsewhere.

Much cheaper than an alarm or snap off steering wheel would just be a steering lock.

Why did they try to break in, did he leave anything at all on show?

You would be suprised how little you can pick up an alarm for, if its too expensive still get a flashing bright LED wired upto the battery and put it somewhere visable on the dash, it acts as a good deterrant.

turn the wheel into the kerb so it cant be pushed back and leave it in gear when parked up. This way even if they go underneath and cut your handbreak cable they cant push your car into a quite location to get into it.

On a budget id say cheap alarm and a stop lock as its a deterrant or even the flashing LED with an alarm brand sticker on the window (on ebay for pennies).

I got a FORTRESS stop lock for £30 from halfords, classed as a CAT3 imobiliser by insurance group.

He has nothing of value in the car, it's just a plain corsa. It was a gang of scrotes just hoping to have a quick joyride I think.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, keep them coming.

Mark what is that in the pic you posted? Looks interesting.

No use as it would be just as easy for te scumbags to reconnect or bring their own battery.

Deano, thaks for that, I'm keeping an eye on it.

its a switch in the pic above once the pressure is released from it (the door bent back) the alarm will go off.it may be ugly but it stops the most favored way into corsas.take ht leads off.fuel injection fuse out and leave the car in gear then yourself and mr baseball bat lay in wait for the theiving scum

Apparently there was around 6-8 of them, and around the age of 17-18.

He doesn't really need the hassle as he has a young family.

Apparently he chased them off but in the process of doing so nearly got stabbed with a screwdriver.

Being the inbred scum they are, they decided to come back and spent the night taunting him from outside his front garden.

Cant see a bunch of scumbags walking round with a battery to rob a car. like Johnhara1 said get a 4TRESS, 22 quid from motorworld, they are beasty, (could double up as a weapon if any thing kicked off although i dont condone that sort of thing)
