My car seems quite raspy when i boot it , maybe at around 3k revs ?

Would it be due to the 4 branch ?

I do NOT have a decat

I have one here to try. collector (bit where the 4 pipes come together at the flange) is a shite design so im chopping it off and replacing it ith a straight piece of 2.25" pipe into the exhaust system.

other than that its a decent design.

oh and greg, if you have a decat, thats more likely to cause a rasp.

erm...slightly pointless dave... i had the flange cut off mine, and a 2 1/2" pipe with flexi to the cat..... the only way i could stop the rasp...

whats wrong with the standard collector?

I have one, It did rasp for a bit. But that was because the flange on the old downpipe-cat broke.
When fixed, it still rasped!!! Found my de-cat wasn't fitted correctly!!!
Fixed that, Now... Sounds very nice. Next, Backbox!!!

I Had my system fitted today. Magnex full system with de cat.
Sounds deeper at tick over but around 2-3k revs is quite raspy. Can this be sorted?

Cheers

not at all pointless. the design of the collector is poor. it should be longer. also the flange i/d is about 14mm smaller than the collector i/d this causes a big step right after the collector which is a major restriction and the cause for the raspiness.

it will be the decat making yours raspy mate. well its not the decat that does it, the rasp is actually a knock on effect of the inlet design.

get a decat with a silencer

i think he means the inlet into the decat....

the protech collector isnt too bad, but i totally agree with you that the flange is shoot on the protech manifolds.... it reduces from 2 1/4" to 2".
i had the flange removed and a 6" flexi welded in place....it seriously improves the design....

next i need something to guard the lower branches from the road

my protech manifold fitted fine, I just had to grind it back a bit around the base to allow the thermostat housing to fit! Also I have a decat and a straight through centre pipe with scorpian back box and it sounds lovely, no raspyness!

no, I meant the inlet manifold on the engine. different inlets affect the exhaust sound a lot. as a general rule, the shorter the inlet the louder the exhaust.

you are joking right?........would be un-noticable, untill you start getting valve bounce/overlap... would also depend on the air filter/ t/b,
