You really need to complete it as Dominic (i.e join someone's hosted coop game) so that you get the achievements for him. This means you don't have to complete the game twice.
Though I guess if you're doing it on Hardcore you can always play through as Dom on Insane.

I don't understand your question. Perhaps this will answer it.
There are achievements for the following:
Completing GOW on Casual
Completing GOW on Hardcore
Completing GOW on Insane.
Completing a single chapter with Dominic Santiago
Completing 10 chapters with Dominic Santiago
Completing all Acts with Dominic Santiago
If you complete it on Hardcore (with either character) you'll get the achievements for both Hardcore and Casual
You will need to join someone's hosted coop game to play as Dominic Santiago and get his achievements This can only be done on Xbox live obviously.
You can still get the other achievements on single player playing as Marcus.

don't forget to look out for the Cog tags as well There are achievements for collectin 10 (10 points), 20 (20 points) and all 30 (30 points).

So playing as Dom the whole way through Insane will get you ALL of the above achievements 
Theres also one for playing as Dom in 10 different acts. Domination.

See my edited post above my mistake.
There are loads of other achievements also. 5 active reloads in a row. 25 active reloads in total. Killing 3 enemies at once 10 different times and a load of online ones.
I have a useful trick for the ClusterLuck one...
